La escultura estratificada surge del estudio de diversas formas escultóricas existentes, con el objetivo de desarrollar una nueva manera de esculpir. La estratificación consiste en trasladar directamente el boceto en 2D o 3D sobre la superficie de trabajo, sin tener en cuenta que la perspectiva afectará a las proporciones dimensionales.
Una vez que el dibujo se representa sobre la superficie, se corta en capas (estratos) buscando movimiento físico, cambios en la posición de las distintas partes o variaciones en los sentidos, emociones o sensaciones a lo largo del tiempo.
